Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 18, 2026

Last updated: July 7, 2026

1. Introduction

Encue (“Encue,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Encue mobile application and the website at encue.app (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign in using Sign in with Apple, we receive the name and email address you choose to share through Apple. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your real one, depending on your settings.

Profile information you provide. This may include your display name, handle/username, profile photo (avatar), region, the streaming platforms you subscribe to, your “Four Favorites,” and your discoverability setting.

Your activity in the app. We store the actions you take to provide the Service, including your watchlist, favorites, custom lists, ratings, reviews, watched history, follows, recommendations you send or receive, and similar social activity.

Safety reports. If you report a user or content, we collect the report (the reason, any details you add, and a reference to the reported user or content) so we can review and act on it. If you block someone, we store that block to keep your experiences separated.

Technical and usage information. Basic information such as app version, device type, general usage, and error/diagnostic data that helps us operate and improve the Service.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you not include it in profiles, reviews, or other content.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: provide and operate the Service (show where titles are streaming, maintain your lists and profile, enable social features); personalize your experience and recommendations; enable social features such as following, recommending, and sharing; maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service; and communicate with you about the Service when necessary.

4. Third-Party Services

Encue relies on third-party services to function: Apple (Sign in with Apple authentication); Supabase (secure data storage, authentication, and backend services); The Movie Database (TMDB) (movie, TV, and streaming-availability data — Encue uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB); and affiliate networks such as Impact, Partnerize, CJ Affiliate, and Amazon Associates (when you tap a link to subscribe to a streaming service, you may be routed through an affiliate tracking link operated by these networks). Each third party handles data according to its own privacy policy.

5. Affiliate Links and Tracking

Encue may include affiliate links to streaming services. When you tap one, you may be directed through a tracking link, and we may earn a commission if you subscribe. This process can involve cookies or identifiers controlled by the relevant affiliate network so that referrals can be attributed. We do not control those third-party cookies or networks. Using these links is optional, and you can always go directly to a streaming service instead.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only: with the third-party service providers listed above, as needed to operate the Service; with other users, to the extent you choose to be discoverable or to share activity socially (for example, your public ratings, reviews, profile, and Four Favorites may be visible to people who can see your profile); and if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Encue, our users, or others.

7. Your Choices and Rights

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, then delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

Encue is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at privacy@encue.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. International Users

Encue is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
